How To Know You’re Growing
Deciding to focus on your personal growth is a really important decision to make. Investing time in yourself and the things you want from life is key to your overall happiness and success! You deserve to move forward with your life and make progress.
Some people don’t think they need to work on themselves, and that’s their absolute right, of course. You can’t force people to want to make changes and improvements in their life.
However, I really do feel that we can all benefit from working on ourselves, on our goals, and on the things that make us ridiculously happy and fulfilled.
Once you make the decision to grow and learn new things, there are some steps you will need to take to start achieving stuff.
Remember, whilst it might be daunting, you really can achieve anything you set your mind to! Take a breath and think about the things in life that you deep down desperately want, and then think about what it would be like to have them. Personal growth is about leading your life towards making those dreams a reality and becoming a strong, fulfilled and caring person.
I’ve lived with anxiety since I was about six years old, and I’ve been beaten down by it – however I wanted to get past it, and I wanted to achieve my goals. Knowing that I had to change my thought processes, and stop those negative circles made me realise that it all boils down to me.
The story we tell ourselves in our mind is the way we cope with things and how we’ve learnt to process outside influences. But I want to share with you how I’ve massively reduced any feelings of anxiety and stress, and how I’ve become more confident, daring and excited to grow!
Goal Setting For Success
Setting goals for your future is an amazing way to focus in on the things you really want to do with your life. If you don’t get specific and figure out exactly what you want, then how can you get it?
Below are some of my favourite tips and tricks for goal setting that will actually lead to success:
- Choose tangible goals that you actually have a chance at achieving. If your goal is completely impossible, then you’ll never achieve it. The whole point is that you are actually able to DO THE THINGS. Taking action is what ensures you achieve your goals, so you need to choose realistic things you can actually work towards.
- Pick one big life goal; the absolute dream goal that you would love to achieve with your time on Earth. For example, one of my biggest goals is to run a creative online business where I earn a large income. Think about what would change your life and make you feel like you had succeeded in life!
- Once you know the big life goal, you can focus on breaking it down into smaller pieces. In my case, this would things such as establishing a blog, building my community and setting up flourishing social media platforms. By breaking the big goal down, you will begin to see the actions you need to take to make it a reality.
- At this point, break these items down even further! Nitty-gritty details enable you to take actionable steps that all lead towards that big life goal. Every time you accomplish one of them, you are a step closer to that #bestlife!
Goal setting really is a huge part of overall success. Being organised and managing these goals might seem like a waste of time, and that you’ve got it all in your head so why does it matter?
But taking the time to flesh it out, to pull out all the details, and to visualise exactly where you’re heading is so invaluable.
Growing Pains – How To Know Personal Growth Is Happening!
As you are working towards your goals, you will find yourself in some challenging situations. Naturally, it’s going to happen!
Making changes in your life and putting yourself out there is key to the overall success rate of reaching your aim, but you will likely have to do things you’ve never done before. There will be huge, gaping chasm: an obvious feeling of “AHH this is too much!”
When you do things for the first time, you can feel uncomfortable, out of your depth, and worried about how things are going to turn out.
THIS IS KEY!
The secret to serious personal growth is hidden inside the pain.
When we are struggling, when things feel tough and we are in over our head, that is when the key changes are being made.
Our brain finds the situation overwhelming because it hasn’t faced it before, and this makes us feel scared, uncomfortable and can trigger those feelings of panic and anxiety. However, you are concentrating on feeling positive and focused.
As such, you push through. You face the things that make you uncomfortable. It is during this phase, that your brain is learning new things.
It is understanding how to be stronger, how to deal with things outside of your comfort zone. Because anyone who struggles with stress, anxiety, or just simply being stuck in a rut and not pushing yourself to achieve more – you’re living in your comfort zone 24-7!
Learning to push myself out of it and take on bigger challenges is the only way I’ve been able to achieve some of the amazing things I’ve accomplished.
The same goes for you. For anyone.
Get out of that comfort zone, battle through the stressful times, learn the lessons, and move on to the next.
Why Personal Growth Is Important
I genuinely believe that in life we only level up by serious focus, change, and pushing ourselves.
There is a lot to be said for the act of taking yourself out of your comfort zone.
You might also end up feeling down and stuck if you don’t take on new challenges. It doesn’t make us feel very good when we get stuck doing the same thing day in day out. You might start to become low, and regret not taking steps to go after your dream life! You do not want that to happen!
Think about the things that excite you, the things you are passionate about, and take steps to take them for your own.
